The high seas have a new adventurer and his name is The Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant), a fun loving pirate with a song in his heart and a beard on his chin. Unfortunately, the song on his lips is a sad dirge as he always comes in close to last in the Pirate awards. With the least amount of "booty", he has no way of beating the big and bad pirates like Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek). So with the wind at his back he takes off for adventure in hopes of finding treasure to plunder and laws to break. Also along for the oceanic ride is his ragtag crew who all believe in their captain… and possibly the option to win.
I am a big fan of these creators, having loved movies like Wallace & Gromitt and many more. The only problem is that the story was directly aimed at children, meaning adults will be left in the life boat with this film. And yes, it does come in 3D, though what your kids get out of it is a novelty at best and not really part of the story.
